Employment New Zealand hits student orientation weeks to spread employment news

Employment New Zealand has recently been reaching out to students across the country to make sure they know about their rights and responsibilities when it comes to employment.

Employment New Zealand National Manager, Information and Education Jennifer Sykes says with the academic year now beginning, it’s been an ideal time to get messages across to young people at student orientation weeks around the country.

“Our team has been attending O Week’s at six universities to spread the word, where we’ve been able to reach out to thousands of young people in Auckland, Waikato, Palmerston North, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.”

“Starting a new job is an exciting time but it’s important that employees and employers follow minimum standards and know what their rights and responsibilities are. We’ve been able to talk to students up and down the country about a wide range of issues, from employment agreements to leave and holidays.”
