The aim of this course is to build the capability of workplace leaders so that they can build relationships between employers and employees around local and national union campaigns.

By the end of this half day course, participants will:

  • be able to act confidently while undertaking tasks and informing members in their workplace as a new worksite representative.
  • know the basics of the NZEI Te Riu Roa workplace representative role and the importance of that role in achieving NZEI Te Riu Roa goals and values.
  • engage and inform members on their worksite of rights and responsibilities.

Building Stronger Worksites Course No: 715

This is a one day course which aims to build the confidence of participants in organising their worksites by strengthening relationships between employers, employees and unions.

By the end of the course, participants will have increased knowledge on the following topics:

  • The importance of the relationship between employers, employees and unions
  • Factors that can affect relationships between employers, employees and unions
  • Tikanga Maori values and their use in strengthening the workplace
  • Effective recruitment and union organising
  • Addressing workplace issues.

Course approved for a period of 3 years from 25 November 2016.
